All About Us

What Sets Us Apart

Sigma represents the embodiment of the core values championed by FIRST. Comprising 26 members hailing from 10 different schools across Mumbai, India, our community team is driven by a shared passion for robotics and STEM. Our mission is clear: to inspire students and ensure access to science and technology, positively impacting the FIRST community in India and fostering sustainable growth in the Indian robotics landscape.

With a vision to spread STEAM awareness globally, mentor other FRC teams, and sustainably grow our own, we embarked on our journey with zeal and determination. Rooted in values such as teamwork, professionalism, and innovation, we immersed ourselves in the world of FIRST, integrating its principles into our daily lives.

Our transition to FRC was marked by a commitment to skill development and community empowerment. Despite facing numerous challenges, from sourcing parts internationally to navigating the complexities of the build season, we remained unwavering in our dedication to our goals. Throughout it all, our energy, adherence to core values, and steadfast commitment to uplifting underserved communities through robotics and coding initiatives remained constant.

2025

SpongeBot- Only our 2nd ever robot designed to tackle the various challenges of the REEFSCAPE challenge, Spongebot was a great leap in terms of the design process as compared to our rookie year. We managed to efficiently score corals on the various levels as well as hang our robot in the endgame. While it was not perfect, it gave us valuable learnings for future events. It taught us about the various concepts and strategies required to truly make a good robot. Furthermore, we greatly upgraded our software skills and using our Limelight localization technique, were able to have one of the most consistent autonomous periods in the World Championships at Houston.

2024

Bothoven- This was team Sigma's first ever robot, made in a tiny garage, less than half the size of a FRC field. Despite it's humble beginnings, Bothoven was able to perform well, and earn Team Sigma, a touchdown at Houston. Although it had several flaws in the mechanical design, it gave us valuable lessons and helped us progress further and better ourselves in the 2025 season. It gave us proof that Sigma, could indeed be a team that could one day, compete amongst the elite. The robot truly reflected Team Sigma's passion for robotics and was immediately a stand-out in the regional events.
